Learning Bridge x WatchDog Fundraiser

Learning Bridge is in the process of conducting an online crowdfunding campaign toward the purchase of invaluable supplies and equipment that will facilitate the continued smooth operation of the valuable work conducted by the WatchDog Early Education Center. Particularly, the funds will contribute toward the purchase of learning difference assessment materials such as Occupational Therapy Assessment Tools, Speech Therapy Assessment Tools, and Physiotherapy Equipment, which retails at around HKD 8000, HKD 4000, and HKD 3000 respectively. We will also be looking to purchase Peabody Developmental Motor Skills (Third Edition) assessments to better serve our students with developmental issues.

The Learning Bridge Vision

Learning Bridge is a social project that aims to support children with learning difficulties and other developmental issues in the arena of early education. It seeks to advance innovative approaches to inclusive learning to guarantee that all kids have access to high-quality education. Learning Bridge embraces the multi-pronged approach of collaboration with local organizations and the development of volunteer networks in addition to the creation of efficient and easily accessible resources.

Learning Bridge traces its ideation to a volunteering experience. Tanisha completed 30 hours of volunteer work at Watchdog in July 2021, which is an early education organization financed by the Hong Kong government that supports children with developmental disabilities, particularly those who are preschoolers. In addition to helping teachers and instructors with music therapy, storytelling, sensory training workshops, and behavioral classes, Tanisha’s responsibilities included arranging learning materials and children's resources. Furthermore, in October 2022, Tanisha began tutoring a student at Watchdog. The strategies discussed and practiced during these sessions were customized to the student’s ADHD diagnosis. Throughout the sessions, the student was provided guidance to access learning techniques that made learning more accessible to them.

Through endeavors and experiences such as these, Learning Bridge was found. It now aims to create a comprehensive repository of resources, mixed with hands-on outreach, making it possible for students with learning and other developmental concerns to participate in school and learn in a way that feels accessible to them. These efforts are targeted towards fostering inclusive learning and making it easier for all children to have access to high-quality education that helps them achieve their potential. Thus, Learning Bridge advocates for the right of all children to participate and contribute actively to their own learning, and have access to education that understands their needs.
